That’s right, 2K is back baby. At least for us in the U.S or Canada. Jon Robinson at IGN has reissued the return announcement for the 2K football series, again. Why should we care when the game hasn’t been formally announced? Another question answers that right away. Have you played the last two Madden games?

The new game is supposedly going to be comprised of Hall of Fame or so-called Legends players this go around in 2007. While this sounds like a solid idea, lets just see how it finally turns out. Most people in the football video game market these days probably don’t have a clue about the players of yesteryear. Here’s to it actual being a fun game!

I know that the announcement of this game is inevitable, but I won’t dare to jinx it before then. I digress and say that I will jump out off my pants in joy when I do hear the official announcement of this game. If your a (American) football fan you know what I am talking about when I say “bring on the competition”. It has been said time after time that Pro Evolution (soccer) Football was a step ahead of FIFA for a while now, but how would the rest of the world feel if EA got the rights to be the only game in town. I’m sure all of the Pro Evolution fans would riot the world round.

Having been forced to play Madden the last two year’s in place of what I still consider a better game, NFL 2k5 to this day even against Madden’s two next-gen offerings has feature’s Madden has never had. Why is it that Madden still doesn’t have a half time show? Why is it that we don’t see the referee’s come on to the field with the sticks to see if a play resulted in a first down or 4th and inches? Why is it that there’s hardly a hint of that ESPN license at all in the entire game? Why is it that there aren’t player interviews in Madden even though every interview is cliché? Where is Chris Berman? Where is Mel Kiper? Where are the Cheerleaders? Why the hell aren’t there any cheerleader’s?

After all of that 2K isn’t perfect ethier, but it has the little touches that Madden seems to always forget about. The terrible lip syncing of Chris Berman and everyone else in the game is quite lauchable. With these things not being perfect LAST GEN and I mean LAST GEN, how come none of this is in the current Madden? Please make NFL 2k back-compatible Microsoft! I bought Madden this year because I had no choice if I wanted to play football this year. I have my copy of NFL 2k5 in hand. It would be nice if it worked on my Xbox 360.

For those who would say ” Go outside and actually play football”, I say ” it’s not the same when none of your buddy’s are real NFL players and you aren’t either.
