There was once a time where the very notion of achievements was a very translucent notion to those not in the inner circle at Microsoft for the development of the Xbox 360. Now that we all have a grasp of what the master plan was to become, I can safely say that the Achievement system works like a charm.
The people out there who say that achievements and the subsequent gamer-score points given for getting them don’t factor in when playing games, but I beg to differ. Who doesn’t like to compare themselves to there friends? You can be told of a gaming accomplishment a million times by your friend, but how do you really know how you stack up compared to them. While you don’t officially get anything out of achievements except bragging rights, isn’t that enough of a reward for you to keep pursuing them?
Dan Hsu over at Electronic Gaming Monthly has concurred with this on every level. When a publication has the up most obligation to get reviews out for all of us to mull over or to ultimately often disagree with, it is certainly telling to see that the preferred platform of choice was the Xbox 360 just because of these achievements that no one supposely cares about. It seems that either were all fooling ourselve’s about how important these things are or were all just covering up the fact that were all addicts to the Microsoft master plan. I can’t wait to see you all at the next achievement’s anonymous meeting.
