There are numerous reports that Xbox Live is currently down. Xbox 360 fanboy reports that many are able to sign in but are unable to play any games online. You can view updates there and I will do my best to keep everyone updated as to the current status of Xbox Live. Although there have been no official reports that Live is down or when it will be working properly again.

update: Xbox.com has reported that:
Xbox Live is currently experiencing issues with Matchmaking. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and Thank You for your patience.

update: Major Nelson reports as well:
The Xbox team is aware that Xbox Live is having difficulties and is working on a resolution. Due to the increase in spam regarding this problem anonymous comments have been disabled until further notice.

extra: Don’t fret about the current matchmaking outage because I’m sure Microsoft techies are working on the problem as I type. Read about Xbox Support…

update: Finally some closure on the issue. It seems that Xbox live matchmaking is up and running. Here is the official word from Microsoft’s Major Nelson:

I just heard from the Ops team…and we are all set now. They are debriefing now…so I’ll see if I can get anything out of e to share on my show this week.
