With the news of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night breaking the 50 mb limit, why is it that anyone would be surprised? Castlevania is great in all, but doesn’t this break from the formula of having a series of games that can be played over a short period of time. The last time I checked this was supposed to be all about “arcade” games. The live arcade team is doing a great job, but isn’t Live Arcade starting to lose it’s focus or is just me?

I kinda think it’s you, no offense. I have been hoping (and begging to arcade@microsoft.com or whatever) that they allow 50MB+ games. It’s a stupid restriction that really hurt Lumines. I’m pumped to see them breaking the glass ceiling.

I don’t mind them breaking the size limit. It’s just that Castlevania isn’t an arcade game. I’ll be glad to have it, but it’s not an arcade game. That’s all I was getting at. No offense taken, but it’s not a arcade game. It shouldn’t be called Live Arcade then. It should be called Live Downloadable games then.

I don’t think that games on XBLA are supposed to be played over a short period of time, it’s for a different type of game which isn’t necessarily a full arcade release.
Games like Settlers of Catan, Alien Homonid, and yes, Castlevania – all of these titles are perfect for arcade.

Ive seen a castlevania arcade game in an amusement arcade before, not sure which one it was but there was one in there, why is it such an issue if a game breaks the 50mb limit? to be quite honest with you im happy that all these stupid 1 off retro releases seem to be slowing down a bit and were getting some quality titles for our money instead of having the choice of ms pac man or defender, sure i love playing those games but i dont want to spend £4, £5, £6, whatever a time for them, why dont they release a pack of retro games like they do on other systems? I say bring on the heavier downloads like castlevania, it will bring back my faith in the whole live arcade again.
