Xboxic reports that Paul Thurrott, co-host of a relatively new podcast “Windows Weekly”, has said that a new 360 is on the way in late 2007. He specifically states that
-A new 360 will be released in late 2007
-The new 360 is the only way that you can benefit from the upcoming IPTV service
-A bigger Hard Drive will be bundled with the new 360
-The new 360 is “pretty likely” to be quieter
It should also be noted that Paul Thurrott does work at Microsoft and would know about this sort of thing, which helps add some credibility to the news, but if so Microsoft will surely make an official announcement sometime in the feature. The only potentially upsetting news that could have gamers upset is the fact that first generation 360’s won’t be able to support the IPTV feature.
For now though this is all still a rumor, but we will keep you updated as more news becomes available.

Like I said before, I plan on abusing Best Buy’s service plan… and if that doesn’t do the trick, MS better have a back up plan. I don’t think people will be “pissed off” like the rumormongers believe, but I do think MS should offer an incentive upgrade like they do with Windows upgrades.
