If your itchy trigger finger just can’t wait to open that new copy of Crackdown to calm your Halo 3 angst down, you can read the notice that comes in the Crackdown DVD case right now. Just how this was obtained is a mystery to me, but I won’t tell if you won’t. Coming from Halo 3 Source, it’s certain now that you’ll have to have the Crackdown disc in the drive each and every time you access the Beta.

After reading this, you would have to assume that the people who got in via the initial sign-up on Halo3.com or the Rule of Three are going to be getting a code to download the Beta, where else the people who go the Crackdown route are bound to the Crackdown disc for access. No biggie here though, considering we still don’t know what the Beta is going to in-tel. It would be pretty funny if all testers where required to do real Beta test work, like submitting ton’s of bug reports and crash data. I can’t wait for people to start complaining when they realize that Beta means work. Playing a unfinished game isn’t all it’s “cracked” up to be.

As long as you own the Crackdown disc you can play the BETA. There is no test to pass. Just pop in your crackdown disc to continue playing the BETA.
