Mass Effect’s Length

Mass Effect’s length has been subjected to many questions as Bioware talks up episodic content many people feared they’d leave content out of Mass Effect and sell it later. Luckily it doesn’t appear to be the case. In a recent interview with Team Xbox when the developers were asked about the size of the game they responded saying it would be about 40 hours for the core game and could be another 20 or 30 hours depending on how you play the game with more content coming at a later date. At least the game will be huge but it will be a time sucker upper! Here’s the full quote,

Ray Muzyka: I mean, it really depends on just how much you want to do on the uncharted worlds. I think it’s going to be about 40 hours or so for the main story, so it’s going to be a good-sized BioWare RPG just for the core part. Off the beaten path, there’s probably another 20 or 30 hours or so of stuff, or more, depending on how much you do and what order you do it in and all of that. It’s this non-linear exploration of uncharted worlds.

I heard a while back that it’d only be about 10 hours, good to hear it’s a long longer than that.

It’s not the length that matters… it’s how much you enjoy it. ;)

I’m not sure I’m excited about this game, but I’m open to trying it.

I actually prefer shorter games, I have time to play video games but after a long time they ten to get boring but this game looks to be fresh throughout the entire gameplay.

Maybe they should make it for PC???? Oh wait, that would not be good for Microsoft’s manipulation scheme. To make their xbox360 the only gaming platform. Maybe thats why Games are worse in Vista then they are in XP, so you buy the 350 instead. It’s ashame, the game looks great! But i will not conform to Microsoft’s demands and BUY a 360 or Vista to get dx10, and play their games! To bad so sad.

The name bioware says it all, it wouldn’t matter if it was only 10 hours the game would be an amazing rpg. In my opinion Bioware ranks right up there with blizzard.

360 can’t run dx10, it can emulate certain parts of dx10, but its hardware is designed for dx9

I may just have to get a 360 for this game. Now when was that 360 price drop and a hardware refresh happening! The 360 means that DX9 isn’t going anywhere for a long time.
