A tale of GRAW2 agony, server host beware!

After having a blast with GRAW 1 for nearly everyday for at-least four months, even with the sometimes torturous disconnect issues I plopped down the money for GRAW2. Barely a year later here we are playing the sequel, but playing the sequel is only where the fun begins. It all starts where everything always starts, with the insertion of the disc.

The game starts up in the usual Tom Clancy fashion with a dramatic battle sequence, but unlike most times on the first play I decide to play multiplayer first. This is a very uncommon thing for me, so I should have been ready for what was to come next. Being very familiar with the interface of GRAW I felt right at home since very little has been changed on the surface.

Having already played the multiplayer demo for a few hours previously, this was to be really simple. After the fact, I now know differently. Deciding to jump right into a random lobby of any game type I ready myself for what should have been a great first experience, but that was not to be had this time. I get into the first lobby and I get booted by the host. Alright, I realize I’m only at rank 1 and this game has been out for a few weeks already, but give me a break why don’t you. I jump into another lobby and guess what happens. I get booted again. Bad Luck right, nope. I proceed to go into another lobby only to get booted once again.

This string of being kicked continued for almost a half hour in roughly 15 different lobbies where I didn’t get to even say a word before I was kicked from the lobby for being Rank 1. I understand that there are elitist people out there, but this is just ridiculous. To make matters worse, when I finally did get into a lobby where the host didn’t boot me there was terrible lag. Another few games of that and I had had enough, but dear old me decided to try one more time. Luckily for me this last time went great. Of course I could have hosted my own lobby, but would you join a lobby of a host who’s only ranked 1 when there are more experienced GRAW2 players to play with. I always find myself promoting Xbox Live or online multiplayer in general, but this time was not one of those good time’s I hope to always have.

I’m gald I only rented GRAW2 because the online has become even worse then previous installments. The players move extremely fast and it is tough to hit the guy when he streaks across your reticule. After playing it for about 2 hours straight I began to get a headache and switched up to play some worms where the laughing never stops, literally.

The only plus to this game for me is the graphics, boy does this game look good. I mean real good but looks don’t sell the game for me. I’m all about gameplay.

I beat the first act on the first week the game came out but I haven’t touched it again.

Did you install the free Nowhere map by registering with Ubisoft. Most people have done so and if you did not as you indicate in your message above (inserted disk and went to multiplayer) you will be kicked from the room because your map set does not match those of the host. I have had no problems playing the multiplayer aspect of GRAW2.

Yep, the first thing I did was download Nowhere. I’ve since then played again and haven’t had as much trouble now that I’m a 2 now. It’s definitely a huge problem with host kicking people for being a 1.
