In a posting on the VG Charts, a question of whether or not Microsoft should make a bid for what has now turned into a company in turmoil Take 2 Interactive is a viable one. Of course there are allot of things to take into account from a business perspective, but that’s not what any gamer would be thinking about if this were to happen. So, I pose this question to the readers of The Xbox Domain. Would you be supporting a move like this if it were to happen?
Before you decide one way or another, think about what could happen if Microsoft dipped into it’s war chest to make this happen. With a property like the Grand Theft Auto IP, it alone would be very tempting and surely the only thing most would have come to mind. Take 2 in other terms outside of GTA has much more to offer than that of one franchise.
The main point of a move like this would be to bolster the first party Microsoft Games Studio portfolio even more than it is already. The first part of this would be the Rockstar Games ip’s like GTA, Bully, Manhunt, Table Tennis, Midnight Club, and a few others. Secondly would be a return to the sports gaming world with the Take 2 owned 2K Sports after a failed attempt with it’s own sports brand with the like’s of NFL Fever. Third would be the ip’s under the 2K games brand like Bioshock, Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series, Prey, The Darkness, and Sid Meiers Pirates. Some of these are only published by 2K games and not owned , but it does make for a nice conversational piece when trying to combat the likes of the competition when the Xbox 360 is labeled as nothing more than a platform for people who like to shoot each other.

Not happening. Shane Kim already said it would be a negative revenue. Then again, execs are all liars anyway…

Shane Kim can say what he wants when PR has a gun to his back. This is from a gamers perpective. Financially it doesn’t make a whole lot of since for MS, but being a gamer foremost I’d like to see it happen.
