It’s no surprise to hear oa politician rail against video games especially when it has to do with Gran Theft Auto, but to come to outlandish conclusion’s about what Grand Theft 4 is about after only have seen a one minute teaser is crazy. To aid to the ignorance of these politicians comes the help of the NYdailynews with the most ridiculous article I have ever read in quite some time.

According to the article, “The latest version of an ultraviolent video game will unleash its murderous mayhem on the streets of New York.” How they came to this conclusion from the trailer is beyond me. Ultra-violence from a trailer when there’s none to be found. Funny how the leap in Graphic fidelity only now makes it painfully obvious that Liberty City is based on New York City.

Furthermore, “It’s despicable to glamorize violence in games like these, regardless of how far-fetched the setting may be,” said Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly. Again, how do they know that this game is to be the same as the others?

Last but not least is this jewel of a quote. “In previous incarnations, players advanced through the game by killing cops, selling pornography to children and killing prostitutes. Details of the latest version have not been released. ”

Now this is way off the deep end for sure. I don’t remember having to advance through any of the games by having to kill cops and prostitutes. Selling pornography to children? Huh!
