Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive for $72.54

Kotaku reports that select Sam’s Clubs are selling Xbox 360 HD-DVD drives for a measly $72 dollars. There seems to be no apparent reason why $72 was the set price point but either way that’s a great deal if you are still on the market for an HD-DVD drive.

Gizmodo reports that the sale maybe due to certain store’s who will no longer be stocking the device any longer. One report states that the price drop won’t take place until the store has two or less units left in stock so make sure to call before rushing out to take advantage of this deal.

Suddenly someone at Microsoft is thinking “Wow people love this price, maybe we should lower it some?” Honestly, if M$ did an official lower to $75 USD, I’d go out tomorrow and buy one, otherwise uh I can’t afford one still. :O Our walmart doesn’t have it this cheap.

I don’t think I’d buy it at that price even… I have a gut feeling Blu-ray will take the (temporary) crown until digital distribution takes over.

I was amanager at SAMS CLUB and what they do is lower the price DIRT CHEAP on items that dont sell very well. Half the times Sams never has the higher price electronic items out for sale like the HD-DVD 360 even there ipods sit in the back locked up before anyone knows that they are even in stock.

Torment is right. They lock up all of the high priced items to prevent “theft”, but in return cause low sales because of hiding products no one outside of the company even knows are avaiable. Don’t ask how I know this, or I might end up like Torment.
