In the latest Electronic Gaming Monthly, according to the infamous Quarterman (Q-man), the next installment of the Dead or Alive series will not be seen on an Xbox Platform. This game may not be what will certainly be DOA5, but not being on a Xbox platform would be somewhat of a shocker. Every Dead or Alive game since DOA3 has been on an Xbox Platform.
With the commitment of Tecmo’s Team Ninja with the Xbox in general, could this be a sign if true that development cost have finally pinned the vaunted Itagaki and team to broaden there horizon’s? If true, it’s assured that Microsoft should be saying ” Say it ain’t so”, as to Tecmo and Capcom being the only strong 3rd party Japanese supporters in what is surely a bleak situation in Japan at best.

I believe Itagaki has expressed interest in developing for the DS in the past. Perhaps it could be something of that nature, similar to the new Ninja Gaiden game for the DS.

If it would just be a seperate game developed for the handheld’s I wouldn’t mind that to much but if the game is leaving the xbox platform that would be disappointing to say the least, I guess time will tell.

Itagaki has a lot on his plate between now and DOA5. I think the “next DOA” will be something like a DOA4 remix for the the PS3. There’s Ninja Gaiden 2 to think about and Itagaki himself said he won’t be doing another DOA for a while, if ever. I bet DOA5 doesn’t make an appearance on any console until late 2008.

I still say 4 sucked so who cares, I loved the DOA series but they’ve killed it to me… unless theres an “A” rated DOAXVB2…. Then I’ll care. :O

If you ask me it doesn’t matter if you like the DOA games or not. Support of the Xbox platform from Japanese pubs/devs is whats important. After Tecmo and Capcom, all thats really left is Mistwalker.
