Peter Molyneux has finally divulged some information about how death will be handled in Fable 2. Molyneux had mentioned before that death was a controversial subject handled in many different ways by many different designers and that he wanted to do something to re-redefine what it means to die. Molyneux wasn’t content with the idea of the “Game Over” screen and so now in Fable 2 you character will simply collapse. You will then be faced with two options, surrender gold or experience points to get off the ground. Although, it doesn’t end there; the longer you stay on the ground the bigger chance that your character will be permanently scarred and depending on how much gold or experience you give up will determine how fast your character skills and abilities will progress.
As for the combat aspect Molyneux has decided to go with a one-button system. CVG states that the combat looks “very nice,” but with a one-button system one might think that the combat aspect of the game could become to simplistic. This news about death has intrigued me a bit, but I don’t know about the A-button combat and how that will play out, which will have me worried, but I will no doubt be getting this game when it comes out.
