At this past weekends Comic-Con 2007, in a Viva Pinata panel Rare representatives announced that the Xbox 360’s most worthy of a misfit toy award, Viva Pinata, is headed to the Nintendo DS. While it’s not the first time a Rare game has made it’s way to the Nintendo DS since it’s acquisition by Microsoft, it does make you wonder why the original game wasn’t on the DS already, in a DS form of course.
Microsoft’s attempt at broadening the Xbox 360 market with the 360 version of Viva Pinata last fall was less than stellar to say the least. Will a DS release cure Viva Pinata? Sure, time will only tell, but this release is surely mainly a play to the younger market of gamers to eventually graduate up to a Xbox 360 once the taste of the game on the DS is not enough.
