There hasn’t been any official talk about making a sequel to the hit spring blockbuster Crackdown (at least nothing that anyone has gotten wind of yet) but Destructoid doesn’t care about that. A recent post of theirs has been gaining quite a lot of attention. They promise to deliever your ideas for a sequel directly to the “people who could make it happen” over at Real Time Worlds.
Some may say that Crackdown was only successful because it was paired with the Halo 3 multiplayer beta, but others like myself wouldn’t agree with that entirely. You can attribute most of the success of Crackdown to this advantageous partnership, but after spending some quality time with the game it became very entertaining. I would personally sit down and play for hours at a time simply running around looking for orbs. There were even flicker groups who posted pictures of orbs around the globe, and after playing through the main storyline there was still orb hunting, street races, and rooftop races to complete as well. Crackdown became a solid title by itself and was always near the top of Major Nelson’s list of the most played games during the week.
With the addition of the DLC that came right before the release of the Halo 3 beta many people found themselves taking a break from Halo to explore the city some more and see what they could do now that they had the keys to the city. Crackdown had a good run and if you believe there will be a sequel you can head on over to Destructoid and tell them what you want to see in Crackdown 2. There are some people over there that have some great ideas about what to include in the sequel and I for one would like to see a lot of these ideas (destructable environments) appear in the next game. This could be the one chance you have to directly influence the content of a game pre-release, besides being a beta-tester (which seems to be happening more and more recently) where spots are limited and your voice is drowned out amongst the many people who want to give their input. If you’re interested head on over there and check it out, you might just be surprised by some of the ideas.
