Some people seem to think that the film script for the Gears of War movie is “actually rather good.” New Line Cinema is looking toward such directors as Len Wisemen who wrote and directed the Underworld movies but also directed Live Free or Die Hard; they have also pitched the script to 4 other directors.
“It tells of the final moments of the battle of Aspho Fields, the last of the Pendulum Wars, and the dawning realization that humans are not alone on the planet. Basically a prequel to the events in the game.”
Film adaptations of games have never been very successful other than the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider series but can Gears of War be the first to break onto the big screen like Lara Croft did. I don’t know but I would like to see the movie done right and with Len Wisemen at the helm it might be worth checking out.

Silent Hill wasn’t that bad, and the new Resident Evil: Extinction looks pretty good.
I think this has great potential, especially if they put Wiseman on it.

That’s what I was thinking. I was surprised with all the action that was in the new Die Hard, because I didn’t expect it to be good.

Exactly, I thought it was going to be complete rubbish, but it actually turned out really well, and captured the feel of the original Die Hard. There were a couple of scenes that went too far, but for the most it was a cracker. I think he could do it.
What do you think about a Halo film then?

I think a Halo film could turn out great. Although I would much rather it be like a prologue telling why humans and covenants are fighting each other. Although I’m always skeptical about video game movies and it would most likely be a rent for me. It would also depend on who they get to play the part of Master Chief; that I think would make or break the movie. I would also want to see a backstory for Master Chief to know who he is, if he is in fact human and how he became to be Master Chief.
To tell the truth I can’t say for certain if I would go see it or not but I wish they would of done something like this and packaged it with the game. I mean for $130 for the legendary you would think your getting something other than a helmet and behind the scenes looks.

I like the prologue idea, although if you do the reveal does that mean there isn’t a desire to see anything more from future games? Would that take away the mystery of Master Chief?

Yeah, but if my suspicions are correct the Master Chief might die in the so-called “final” installment. So I guess we will just have to wait and see. That would make it more enjoyable for me.
As for reading the books, I can sit down and read a book but one based off a video game just doesn’t catch my attention even a halo inspired one.
