Is Marathon: Durandal causing motion sickness?

In a bit of awkwardness not seen anywhere out side of Japan (or Asia in general) usually, a bit of motion sickness is becoming of some players after as little as a few minutes of Marathon play. Polled on the Bungie.net forums, several people have said that they have been getting sick or light headed after playing the now Xbox Live Arcade game.

If you say motion sickness doesn’t happen then that’s good news, but it doesn’t just turn up on the Bungie forums, but in reviews as well. Found in the review of the game by IGN, is a mention of this very case.

“The 60fps allows Marathon to run at a lightning speed. You’ll be amazed just how quickly you can zip around a level. But that speed also comes at a cost. And that cost is a very rare sensation in videogames — motion sickness. Because of the tight confines of the levels and the ease in which you can get lost, quite often you may find yourself running about, turning quickly, and watching as the world begins to spin. Though I had a blast playing Marathon, I can’t deny that more than once I felt like throwing up. And I’m not the only one. All four IGN editors who played Marathon for more than 15 minutes began to feel ill. In fact, just thinking about the game is starting to bring back my lunch.”

Anyway you look at it, the inclusion of a demo of every Live Arcade game is a big plus over other services. If you might fall to something this rare then you might won’t to know before you plunk down your points for this classic game. Rather or not there even is a fix for something like this unlikely.

Hmmm I can’t wait to see the “Microsoft is trying to kill me” comments on the boards.

Microsoft is trying to kill me!

Jk, but still, feeling too sick to get through the demo of a game on their service doesn’t make me feel too kind towards them.

Yep, made me feel like chucking after just 5 mins! Never had that with a game before… and MANY people are saying the same thing. Have a look at the Official Xbox Magazine site, reports of this coming thick & fast!
