Speaking to Develop Mag, Real Time Worlds has confirmed that a sequel to Crackdown isn’t currently in the works. Released back in February of this year, Crackdown has become a huge success with much controversy as to whether it was the attaching of the Halo 3 Beta to the game that caused it.
Although the team is in some respects “heartbroken”, “Microsoft were a little late in stepping up to the plate to ask for Crackdown 2, and by then we had already started working on bigger, better things.”
Nevertheless, Real Time Worlds still has its upcoming Cops and Robbers MMO, APB in development. If it turns out to be another hit for the studio is yet to be seen. No sequel to Crackdown or not, lets hope Microsoft can move just a wee bit faster on making its deals from now on. No Xbox 360 owner wants to see the Xbox team be as slow moving as the Windows team has been over the years. If so, a world of unwanted heartache is in store all of us.

This is the worst news I’ve heard in a long time. Crackdown is one of my top 5 favorite games on 360. Was really hoping for a Crackdown 2.
