It’s no secret that RTS’s have had a tough time on consoles. Unfortunately for those nay-sayers who said RTS’s would never make it on consoles, Battle for Middle Earth II and Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars had said other wise. They may not have the exact same feeling of control that suits long time RTS’s players on the PC, the viability of them on a console is more then ever extremely possible.
Jumping on the band wagon is Supreme Commander. During a interview with Pro-G, Founder Games Powered Games, Chris Taylor, cited a goal to bring Supreme Commander to the consoles with the Xbox 360 being the platform of choice:
He said: “I hope so. That’s our goal. Especially not to talk too much here because you’ve almost made me confess that we’re working on it… no actually you have. That’s good. I like that. This is a secret I want to share.”
When asked whether he would prefer to bring the game to Xbox 360 over PS3, he said: “Yeah likely. It’s a great platform. If you look at pure development economics, it’s the platform of choice for moving stuff from the PC. You can get stuff over there economically, very quickly.“
Taking into account what was said, it’ll be nice to be able to pick up the game without fear as to whether or not your hardware is up to snuff. After all, having the game at least being at a playable state is more important then what control scheme you’d prefer.
