Xbox Live Originals Not Without Problems

xbox.jpg

Yesterday, it was posted that Microsoft was going to be bringing Xbox originals to the marketplace in light of its 5 year anniversary. However, it seems like these originals aren’t without their flaws. The following games were listed that will be released on the Marketplace, December 4th.

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge: There is some minor flickering at the top of the screen that happens very rarely. The “Press A to Continue” message is missing when the host player leaves a multiplayer game. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)

Fable: There are some random bursts of audio static and some minor texture issues and a short hang up when removing tattoos. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)

Fuzion Frenzy: There are some minor frame rate issues. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)

Halo: There are some very mild frame rate drops.

Psychonauts: HDMI 720p is not supported for PAL users. Running the game in 720p over HDMI will result in the game locking up for PAL users. If you are using HDMI output, set the resolution to 1080i or 1080p (anything but 720p)

These games were also mentioned as being choppy during game titles and publisher logos at the beginning of the games. No additional content would be supported within the game such as a trailer or a demo. If you so happen to click on those options it may result in the crashing of the game and a restart of the whole console may be needed.

Will this be a product that is actually sold for 1200 Pts??? You can’t sell a product of which you know it locks consoles set to 720p (Millions of units are…).

They should fix it. I wanted to download Fable and Halo but now I prefer to buy the original game.

This smells of poop. Whoring out old IP when you can probably get a copy of each of these games at EB for $5 is ridiculous. If they are the “same old crap” from the retail discs then there is no reason to charge $15 especially when they know they are broken.

I don’t know Wurm. It’s all about convenience. Playing a game directly off of your hard drive on a console is nice. You should know. XBLA in a much larger capacity. It’s a mute point for me though, as I already own all of those games except for Fable. Lots of 360 owners never owned the original Xbox, hence never played these games. So, I can see the value in it even if it is some what broken, however useless it is for us who got in early on Xbox. Virtual Console games come with its issues to, so is that poop to?

i believe though that these same problems would occur ovr backwards compatibility. I remember playin fuzion frenzy on the 360 and it had major frame rate issues (not soo much fun with twisted system when everything begins chopping lol)

Yeah, I downloaded Fable and I’ve had a few problems. It will freeze sometimes after saving or a cutscene, necessitating restart, but the biggest one is that some textures tend to just disappear all-together and will remain that way until you reboot the file. Once, the texture for my face was placed on my character’s body, giving him this gigantic weird gimpy siamese face thing on his chest o_O
