Hasbro Family Game Night is this week’s XBLA release kicking off Microsoft’s “Days of Arcade” with rampant price gouging. Of the titles in the set 4 have been released today. Battleship, Connect 4, Scrabble [the worthiest of the bunch!], and Yahtzee round out 4 of the 7 games with 3 additional titles being released later this year, Sorry!, Sorry Sliders! and Boggle.
To much dismay each game has the once rumored price tag of 800 points [$10] per game. I guess that does not stop some as I saw one commenter over on Major’s blog already paid $10 for Connect 4. Yes $10 for Connect 4.
Also Sorry! to anyone outside the US/Canada, Scrabble is only available to North America.
The HFGN “Room” is free to download and can be found here. The full marketplace listing can be found here.

I think this is a really good and creative idea by EA. These board games are classic and should be fun to play on XBL.

Have you played them? When I tried out Scrabble [the only one I am interested in] it gave my tiles away to my opponent! You cannot play the game in local mode! Kind of drops the "Family" aspect if I can't play the game proper at home.
Out of the 4 released I see Battleship being the winner. The water graphics for the board are kind of interesting but $10 sorry gotta pass on it. The collection is $20 on the PS2 and $30-40 on the Wii…if you buy it XBLA you are going to pay $70.
This is not a creative idea by EA it is blatant price gouging.

Yep, technically I'll have to give it to them. It's done well as far as the presentation and such, but after you get passed that and see the price it's a bit much to swallow, especially for Connect Four. Looking at the overall price point, something like Braid, Portal: Still Alive, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Peggle, and Geometry Wars 2 can all be had for less or the same amount.
