New on the Xbox LIVE Indie scene is Milkstone Studios. With their debut onto the scene, they bring Little Racers. Little Racers is a top down view racing title. Now, this game has been done before, but what really draws me to it is that it really is an old school game, with a new age touch.
Now, the controls are still the same as they have been for the last 20 years. Impossible to actually use. Taking turns in this game is very hard – - to the point I can’t even get the hang of it. But I guess that’s what gives this type of game it’s fun.
Unlike most games of this genre, this game actually has decent visuals; not the best… but good. They do pay attention to detail though, the faster you go around a turn, the more of a skidmark you will leave. Now don’t let your mind drift, we are still talking about cars.
The game IS fun… but not for more than 20 minutes at a time. After a while, the game seems quite boring. I’d suggest you take your time when you dive into it, to make sure you get the full appreciation of this game.
In their game, they have a variety of maps, 21 to be exact. Each one being unique. Along with the 21 tracks, there is a 10 song soundtrack. Little Racers offers 4 different game modes including Quick Race and a Championship mode. The Championship mode pits you against AI in a series of races where at the end of each race you are given points that directly show how well you performed.
Now, we all have those friends who think its a great idea to win a race in these games by using “shortcuts”. Even though some tracks offer you the option to skip a a piece of the track to gain the lead, that wont be wise. If you do that, it displays a red X above your car and forces you to go back to where you made this decision, and continue from there.
They already gave you a good game, there can’t possibly be any more. WRONG! This game also offers a 12 PLAYER MULTIPLAYER over Xbox LIVE. How crazy is that! How could you go wrong for only 240 MSP.
