The Xbox Domain’s Top Ten Games of the Year 2009 (5&6)

Game of the Year is something that can and only will be determined by you. No matter what this list says in the end you have your favorites and so does the staff of The Xbox Domain. Collating the picks by the staff and adding up occurrences of each title from every personal list to determine the order of the Top Ten Games of 2009 for the Xbox 360, we bring you our result. You may agree and more likely you will disagree. Feel free to argue it out.

5. Left 4 Dead 2

Back when Valve announced Left 4 Dead 2 at this past years E3, lots of people where left scratching their heads. Really, this soon? Continuing a Co-op experience that’s arguably the best in the biz, L4D2 brings all that was good from the first outing with a healthy dose of its new melee weapons. Count it 5, longer campaigns coupled with 4 new special infected and a character in Ellis that’ll likely make the entire game worth it all by himself with his stories of buddy Keith. Left 4 Dead 2 is classic Co-op with more modes of play and more opportunity to just have fun with your friends. Questions of difficulty may arise from some (you know who you are), but that’s when you have to change your strategy’s. Those melee weapons are there for nothing. Bringing a frying pan just in case, Left 4 Dead 2 comes in at #5 on our list.

6. Prototype

With the open world genre getting a big influx of releases in 2009, only one of them oozed “Be a badass killing machine” on the Xbox 360. Prototype infuses you with enough fire power in more than one way to the levels that have not been seen to date. There’s no need to worry about gravity as you’ll just run up the side of a building instead of climbing it like every other chump. Yes, if you want to feel like a complete badass killing machine this is the game. The Web of Intrigue with another side of badass known as Prototype(badass can’t be used enough) makes it onto our list at #6.
