In the short period of time after and most certainly during the new look E3, a lot of fire from the community and press has befallen Jeff Bell (Corporate vice president of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business ). Some would say that he sounded much like a used car sales man at the Microsoft Press Briefing at E3, but why hate on him when he obviously has a ton of enthusiasm for what he’s doing. Why wouldn’t he in the first place? It’s his job to do so and at the very least appear to be so.
The Xbox 360 is great (when it works), Xbox Live is great, and the Xbox Community is great ( except for the few knuckle heads) as well. I’m sure I sound like a used car sells man too, when I go on and on about how great the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live are to the people I run into that haven’t got a clue about it’s greatness.
Sure, going onto the NeoGaf forums and so called “fighting back” wasn’t to cool of a thing to do, but I don’t blame him for wanting to get his two cents in while everyone is tearing him apart because of only a 15 minute stint on stage. He didn’t know that someone would piece the puzzle together to find out it was indeed him on NeoGaf. Don’t forget that that press briefing was the first time he has been on a stage of that size representing Xbox.
In the short term, I won’t be hating on Jeff Bell as long as the Xbox platform itself continues to pump out more fantastic gaming experiences. Jeff didn’t go about defending himself correctly, but how many of us are Corporate vice president of Global Marketing of anything? Give him a break already.
Even so, on another note. At the end of the latest Xbox 360 Fancast Jeff Bell didn’t help himself when it was told that he apparently took it upon himself to become a spoiler in the worst way to fans of a certain book series that was just released. I might give you a chance to redeem yourself, but to those people who you spoiled on GTR, there’s no turning back.
