UPDATE: It seems the site has been getting hit very hard since 8 EST and they ended up taking it down for maintenance so keep a close eye on it. The word is that you have 24 hours to send an email to a designated box for your chance to get in on the “lottery” so have no fear and sleep easy knowing you will have as much chance as anyone else (who gets the questions correct that is). I don’t know how many chances you will have I assume only one so make sure you answer those questions correctly before you hit the send button, and I assume a good rank on the site wouldn’t hurt either.

In case you haven’t been paying attention to Charlie Oscar Delta then you better be lucky me and my buddies have been doing so for you. Anyway, I’ll cut right to the chase, the newest intel indicates the following:

“Regarding the CoD4:MW MP Public Beta: later this week the countdown clock will be going up, and don’t worry it’s a short one! We’ve been hard at work on finalizing the details of the Beta, and we’re excited to finally let you know when you’ll be able to join!”

I could recall them saying that we would have plenty of time to get ready once the countdown started but it looks like we may not have much of a choice. The Call of Duty series has been one of the most popular on the Xbox 360 so far and with COD 4 branching off from its traditional WWII theme in favor of a more modern one, I no less doubt that we can still expect the best from Infinity Ward. Fans of the series have come to expect realistic gameplay and a multiplayer experience like no other when it comes to Call of Duty and from what I’ve seen from trailers they are upping the ante from previous installments of the game.

I will try to post news about the countdown as soon as it becomes available but I can’t promise anything, especially seeing as it might be a fairly short countdown to begin with, so I’m not making any promises. Hopefully everyone who wants to will be able to get in before all the tokens are accounted for because they haven’t even announced how many they will be giving out yet. I don’t know about you but I expect Call of Duty 4 to be a contender for Game of the Year along with Bioshock and Halo 3, and if you have never played a game in the series now would be a great time to start.
