Gears of War 2 to go double XP on July 3-6th

Announced by Epic Games’ Rod Ferguson over on the Gears of War forums, Gears of War 2 will be putting its foot forward this weekend in celebration of the US’s Independence day.

Starting Friday morning you’ll be receiving double XP as well as a 500 XP bonus awarded to the winning team. And to give a little extra bang to Horde we’re bringing the Ticker squad (a group of Tickers that all spawn at the same time) into full effect. They’ll be showing up a lot more throughout all the waves of Horde and they’ve completely infested every 10th wave with nothing but Tickers. So if you’ve been having trouble with Bloodmounts, this weekend is a good time to get your Horde on and get further than ever before. And don’t forget that TU4 will give you experience for every wave you beat.

If you haven’t played Gears 2 in a while this would be as good a time as any. Bungie Day will still be waiting for you on the 7th.

A classic 2D fighting game that’s through and through bringing the old school fighting vibe so many continue to cling to till this day. Just do yourself a favor and get your hands on a fighting stick. You’ll thank yourself for the extra purchase. Otherwise lets have some fun with KOF like the below video. You know, because KOF can’t be brought up without Street Fighter too.

Sure, their have been lots of people out there who have agreed with what I had to say as regards to Left 4 Dead 2. Unfortunately, my name isn’t Adam Sessler. Then again, for all of those who are named Adam Sessler (there is only one I’m aware of, ha) you’d be happy to know that your voice is heard and not lost to the wind as the same point seen previously on this site is recanted awfully similarly by G4’s Adam Sessler in his Sessler’s Soapbox.

Xbox LIVE is clear for take off once again

While June 16th was a blackout time for Xbox LIVE as maintenance to the service was performed, the service that “completes” the Xbox 360 experience has since then come back online. However, it was communicated that there was to be nothing new to expect albeit on the contrary that turned out to be a slight lie. Signing onto Xbox.com (assuming you have a Windows LIVE ID if you’re in LIVE) and checking out your My Xbox section will give you a new look ‘My Xbox’ which has a more evergreen look with its further integration with avatars (As seen below).

Yes, that’s about it. Otherwise, thank you and enjoy your virtual flight on the airways of Xbox LIVE once again.

New Releases this Week (who you gonna call edition)

This week in retail we see the release of two titles. Highly awaited, Ghostbusters: The Videogame finally makes it onto retail shelves. The spiritual sequel to the two Ghostbuster films, this game is sure to be snatched up by fans of The Ghostbusters. Most of the actors of the film are present in all of their voice acting glory. So, who you gonna call as your next game purchase?

Alternative to Ghostbusters is Guitar Hero Smash Hits for those out there who may have missed a few of the past Guitar Hero titles. A collection of songs from various Guitar Hero releases, you too can get your “Through the Fire in flames” on without the need for Guitar Hero 3.

One of the upcoming XBLA releases, Raskulls, will slowly but surely be find its way onto Xbox Live Arcade in the future. Until then, here is a gameplay trailer of the game developed by Halfbrick Studios of which you may know from some of their previous Community Games releases. A puzzle combat racing title, Raskulls is set to add more depth to the XBLA catalog.
