About Jarryd Pugh (Graphic Artist)

Hi, My name is Jarryd Pugh, on the internet I go under the alias of “§ierrÀ”, “SierraEx” or “Exodus”. For a long time I was a strictly PC gamer up until Christmas of 2008, upon which I decided to get an Xbox 360, my last console being a playstation one and before that a Nintendo64. I made the jump to console because my computer could no longer keep up with the steady flow of games requiring a monster machine, and the fact I really wanted to play Mass Effect, but my computer being in the state it is, I had no hope.

My favourite type of game has to be the medieval/fantasy RPG’s, eg: Elder scrolls IV: Oblivion, and most recently Dragon age: Origins, there is just something satisfying about wielding a piece of medieval weaponry and taking out hordes of enemies, either brutally slashing close range with a sword or head shotting with a well aimed arrow. I also like the games that may not make sense, a bit outlandish, but are fun, the first category filled by painkiller, the second by Prototype. Then comes the fast passed action games; Ninja Gaiden 2 and Devil may cry 4. Games that make you think but can overly be completed by frantic button mashing. Assassins Creed fits in somewhere that I can’t really describe, it was flawed and repetitive (The side missions being pretty much the same thing) but I enjoyed it.

I have always had a soft spot for massive open world games, once again Oblivion fills this factor, but also the GTA games, Far Cry 2, Prototype, Assassins creed. I just love the freedom of being able to go anywhere you want.

Something that can make or break a game for me is not graphics, surprisingly considering it’s such a big part of my life, but the length. Sure games now days are pretty almost to the extent of realism(see Crysis). But if it’s not a long game then what’s the point? It will be pretty for the whole 5-6 hours you are playing it but after that, you have 2 choices, 1. play it again, in which you will see the same prettiness for another 5-6 hours though nothing new. Or 2. Play enough other games until you can barely remember you had that game then play it again, receiving the same experience as the first time you played it. Dragon age for example, it’s graphic where great, nothing ground breaking but does the job well, 30+ hours for the main story and that’s not including the side quests.

Apart from gaming another hobby of mine is Graphic Design and art. I’ve done things ranging from forum signatures, to digital painted landscapes in photoshop, all the way up to creating my own windows theme.

that will do for now. see below for my GT and feel free to add me.
